Gatwick Aiport is actually in Sussex, not London. Although it serves London, it’s a long train journey into town. Heathrow Airport is about 50 minutes from the centre, out in the suburbs. It’s worth making the journey twice (to and from the airport) when you visit London but you might be disappointed if you choose accommodation on the basis that it is near Heathrow or Gatwick aiport.
